I’ve always wanted to be more artsy than I actually was. I was never the kind of kid who spent recess drawing or painting—I was more focused on running around and being outside. That started to bother me as I approached my 30s. You could say I had a quarter‑life crisis when I took stock of my life and realized it leaned heavily toward the “active” or “athletic.” There’s nothing wrong with that, but I felt like something was missing and I wasn’t able to fully express myself.
2025 was a turning point: I planned a wedding and spent the year traveling to places like Bermuda, Hawaii, Iceland, and Costa Rica. Travel gave me the chance to reassess my artsy side, and I decided to try photography. It’s easy to fall in love with photography when you’re seeing breathtaking landscapes and exotic animals — the subjects are endless.
How does a blog/website fit into this?
How does a blog fit into this? Photography gave me photos and stories, but not a place to share them. My social media skills are lacking (see below), and I don’t have the wall space to print everything. Photoblogging — or writing, whatever you want to call it — gives me the freedom to flex my writing muscles in a medium that might never be widely seen and doesn’t rely heavily on dopamine levels to determine value.
